I always considered the ‘Secondary’ House colours to be representative of the importance Rowling herself placed upon them for the story line. Gold for Gryffindor because that’s the main characters’ House. Silver for Slytherin because that’s the antagonists’ House. Bronze goes to Ravenclaw because of characters like Luna and the possible love interest Cho, leaving Black to Hufflepuff, because we only really met the one, and he didn’t survive the book.
What if he’s telling me… I have to go back?
